Individuals who want to increase their credibilty, depth and understanding of The Five Practices, or bring The Leadership Challenge® into their organizations are invited to participate in Facilitator Training. The Leadership Challenge® Workshop is pre-requisite.
What you will learn:
- The research foundation for the Kouzes and Posner leadership model (The Five Practices of Exemplary Leaders®)
- How to explain and interpret the LPI
- How to use the Facilitator's Guide to develop an agenda for the 2-day Leadership Challenge workshop
- How to conduct experiential activities that illustrate the five practices and make them come alive
- How to facilitate a powerful The Leadership Challenge® Workshop in your organization
What you will do:
- Practice facilitating at least one module of the workshop and receive feedback from experts in leadership development
- Observe key workshop modules presented by others and participate in feedback and discussion
- Practice debriefing experiential activities
- Engage with like-minded leaders and facilitators in a small-group environment designed to maximize participation, feedback and learning
- View and discuss suggested videos
What you will take away:
- An in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Kouzes and Posner leadership model (The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership®)
- All the elements of a successful leadership development intervention with guidelines for customization
- Certificate of completion—Level 1 (Pre-requisite for Certification)
- Eligibility to apply to become a Leadership Challenge® Certified Facilitator (Certification is by application and requires ongoing education for approximately two years.)
Facilitator Training Pre-work
Participants complete specific pre-work assignments in preparation for their facilitator training. They will likely include:
- Participation in a recent The Leadership Challenge® Workshop
- Readings from Kouzes and Posner's book, The Leadership Challenge
- Preparing to make a workshop module presentation in class
Participants also will be expected to reflect on and identify the areas on which they need to concentrate if they are to become the best workshop facilitators they can be.
